All our products are made from an ultra high-density EPS core with a polymer resin coating.

LWM offers a wide range of mouldings to suit all requirements for your door surrounds, window reveals and decorative mouldings. Produced to order, LWM provides a one stop solution in the construction or renovation of your home, business or large scale development.

Can the range of mouldings improve the BER rating of my home in Ireland?

No. LWM produce a range of mouldings that enhance the exterior of your home, business or large scale development, they are not generally installed in locations that would affect the BER rating.

LWM can manufacture bespoke insulated solutions as per architect specifications – please contact our team for more information.

What is the fire rating of the mouldings?

How durable is the product?

Our products are durable yet lightweight, thanks to our innovative core and range of finishes. LWM products are successfully installed on a wide variety of private and public buildings, offering a versatile and efficient solution.

Measuring

How do I measure for window reveals, door surrounds and soffit mouldings?

Measuring accurately for your Lightweight Mouldings products is important as all products are custom made. For straight lengths, an accurate end to end measurement is sufficient.

For mitered joints, each individual length measurement needs to include a surplus for mitering the lengths together on site. In order to measure for a mitered corner, please allow a surplus of the width of the product twice over to accommodate cutting and joining at either end.

For more information, please read our installation guide.

Fitting

What adhesive do I use to install my mouldings?

LWM Low Expansion Foam and LWM Profile Adhesive are the best products to use to install your mouldings. Easy and quick to apply, both products  provide the best bond and finish for your mouldings.

Can I use mortar?

No. All LWM products are designed to be installed using our LWM Low Expansion Foam or LWM Profile Adhesive.

A bucket of resin came with my order, what is it for?

We provide a small quantity of resin as a courtesy to provide a high-end finish – the resin is used to end and touch up mouldings and joints once installed.

My resin looks dry, is it expired?

No. During storage or transit, the resin can settle and dry slightly on the surface. Agitating the mix should re-animate the product. A very small amount of water can also be added to help the process.

Do my mouldings require a mechanical fixing?

Larger mouldings may need support during the installation process to ensure there is no strain on the bonding material. However, no permanent mechanical fixings are required and any supports should be removed afterwards, giving a clean and pristine finish. We recommend using our LWM Low Expansion Foam or adhesive to fix our products, as outlined above.

We do not recommend leaving any mechanical fixings in place as this will render your warranty void.

Do I need to add on extra when ordering if mitering the mouldings at a corner?

Yes. As outlined above, for mitered joints each individual length measurement needs to include a surplus for mitering the lengths together on site. In order to measure for a mitered corner, please allow a surplus of the width of the product twice over to accommodate cutting and joining at either end.

How do you join the mouldings at a corner?

Your relevant lengths can be cut easily on site using a wide-toothed saw and then fixed in place using our LWM Low Expansion Foam and LWM Profile Adhesive.

Can the mouldings adhere to a variety of surfaces?

Yes. All LWM products can adhere to concrete, engineered timber such as plywood or OSB, finished exterior plaster and render. We recommend using our Low Expansion Foam or adhesive to bond products to the surface.

Will my mouldings fall off?

All LWM products will remain well bonded to surfaces once they have been correctly installed and maintained. Delamination is less likely to occur for LWM than traditional mouldings  due to the product being more lightweight and not as susceptible to water and frost reactions.

Damage

Are the mouldings easy to repair?

Yes. Depending on the level of repair required, LWM products are easy to repair using the resin finish you have chosen, or filled with the resin finish and then touched up with your chosen paint colour. If product damage is more substantial than small dents or scrapes, please contact our technical support team for assistance.

What should I do if my order was damaged by the courier?

We advise our customers to contact us immediately once your delivery has arrived if there are signs of damage to your order. We will work with you to establish the cause and rectify it appropriately. Every effort will be made to supply goods of sound quality. No subsequent claims for delivery damage or visible marks can be entertained as a result of  courier or postal service deliveries.

What do I do if my mouldings get damaged during or after fitting?

Sometimes damage does occur during installation, though our installation guide will support you throughout the installation process and help mitigate the risks of damage occurring.

If, however, minor damage does occur,  LWM products are easy to repair using the resin finish you have chosen, or filled with the resin finish and then touched up with your chosen paint colour. If product damage is more substantial than small dents or scrapes, please contact our technical support team for assistance.

Samples

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Samples can be ordered online and are subject to the relevant shipping costs and  availability.

Colours

What colours do the mouldings come in?

  1. Our products are available in a sandstone finish which can be painted to your desired colour.
  2. Our Door surrounds are also available in our standard hybrid finish – render with a spray coating of LWM custom flexi-coat for increased durability, with a painted finish in white RAL 9010.

Maintenance

Can I paint my mouldings?

Yes.  Prepare the surface with a water-based primer, or a watered down coat of your paint choice, applied thinly. Follow with a coat of your paint, applied thinly to prevent cracking. Ensure painted finishes are maintained and re-painted when necessary.

What paint should I use?

We recommend a high quality, water based, external paint.

Do I need to use sealant on my mouldings to keep them protected?

Yes. Our natural stone finishes should be protected regularly using our LWM sealer. Other sealers can contain solvents, which may damage your product.
